Good evening all! As of earlier this year, I am the owner of 1981 Nonsuch 30. Thanks to the generous support of Joe Valinoti in Oriental,NC, I was able to get her prepared for travels north to the berth I have in Middle River, MD. This has been a challenge on many levels, but I digress. I am looking for an independent diesel mechanic in Solomons, MD to help with a Pathfinder (VW) diesel that may have breathed its last. Likely the heat exchanger gave out en route north and it overheated. It is a marinized 1.6 liter naturally aspirated diesel they used in old Rabbit’s and Jetta’s. The yard will be getting back to me after looking at it, but a $20-25K new diesel is not in the budget. Any assistance with trusted local mechanics (not necessarily associated with the local boatyards) who would be up for an engine repair or a rebuilt long-block swap if needed would be appreciated.
