Trying to install a two bladed Max Prop. Initially set at 12 degrees as recommended. Seriously under propped so short haul and changed to 14 degree pitch and still not achieving 5 knots. This is a 3YM20 with 3.22 forward trans.
Common sense says to increase the pitch but the deviation from the initial suggestion is great and my confidence is diminishing along with my dollars lol.
Have you called PYI in Seattle? They should be able to give an idea for the correct pitch with your set up. I had a two blade Max on my 26. It was a 14” blade set to 22 degrees. I had the 13 hp Westerbeke with a 2:1 reduction ratio in the transmission. The same prop and pitch worked for the 20 hp Beta. The Westerbeke was rated at 3000 rpm and the Beta was rated at 3600 rpm. The Beta would get to about 3400 if I recall correctly.
Thank you for your response. This whole issue has come down to not seeing correctly the symbols on a small phone screen.
In fact, with my transmission 3.22 reduction calling for 28 degree pitch the translation for 14 inch pitch apparently for my transmission.
