The key switch on our NS26 has been giving us trouble, I intend to replace it with a toggle switch. I have never understood the reason for the key, the battery switch is inside the cabin which is always locked and the switch is turned off when we are away from the boat.

Yes, the three are separate, Key switch, glow plug button, and starter button. I think is is the standard Westerbeke Panel. Is the Volvo different? Still, why the key?
Some people leave the battery switch on therefore, they need a key for security.
