Weight of NS 26

Hi Folks,

I thought it might be of interest that my 1981 NS 26 Classic weighed 11,000 lbs. on the cranes’ scale when launching 2 days ago. That was without the mast and boom, but with full fuel (170 lbs.), 30% water (200 lbs), and about 300 lbs.? of miscellaneous tools, canvas, etc.

So I estimate that would sort out to about 10,800 lbs. dry weight assuming 450 lbs for the mast and boom. My fellow club members and I were very surprised by how much it weighed. (more than most 30’ sailboats.)

Hi Ken -

My former NS22 O/B weighed around 6000 lbs. on the crane minus the mast and sail but with the boom and the engine, very little fluids and just the usual nonsense on board. Not bad for a “5000 lb. boat” that is 22’ long.

Ooomphy boats, these.
