Hi all, I’m reinstalling all the fittings on our wishbone after paint. Can anyone share some photos of good ideas and general hardware? We have a 30C. There were lots of unused fittings I don’t want to reinstall so holes that I’ll have to fill. Thanks in advance!

I suggest using TefGel when reinstalling hardware to prevent corrosion.

I need to do what you have done. Were you able to extract everything whithoutvl snapping bolts? What kind of primer and paint did you use- brush or spray?

If you haven’t re-installed the items yet I think Bob Neeches would be very interested if these fittings could be scanned for future reproduction. Bob?

I used Epifanes epoxy primer and 2-part polyurethane. Turned out well. Using a roller with more nap gave the best result. It’s been a ton of work. I’ve been using blue locktite for screws and lanocote for rivets to prevent corrosion. Yes, everything came out okay, no broken bolts. I broke a tap on the mast, but that was because I got my drill bits mixed up.

I don’t think there’s anything that I have that isn’t available - we have a very early wishbone (#27) that was welded together, so no castings at either end. The only fitting I’d like to replace would be the one for the reef lines. I need to find the more updated ones that has a fairing block to match the radius of the wishbone - similar to the choker block.

Some of the early boats terminated the topping lift at horn cleat mounted near the foot of the boom on the starboard side. If your topping lift is lead to the cockpit the cleat is no longer needed and can be left off. I had that set up on my 26 and the cleat’s only purpose in life seemed to be to snag a reef line. The cleat is now in a box of old parts.
