Clew wishbone attachment with eyebolt—is it safe?

Robin,

Dyneema has very little stretch, but is also very slippery. So, I’d suggest keeping an eye on your knot. IMHO, that’s a potential source of any give that you’ve spotted.

Robin,
I’m glad that you were able to get the lashing to work. In viewing your photos, I wondered if you needed to have the lashing so tight. Maybe you do. But on my boat, I’m able to have the lashing 4-6” long and still have the ability to flatten the sail before the wishbone boom bumpers hit the mast. Maybe you can’t with your rig. But if you can, it has the advantage of getting the clew end of the wishbone and the main sheet farther away from the cockpit. Anyway, just a thought. Sounds like you have been doing some fun sailing.

Thanks Jim, I’ve been trying to keep it as short as possible to mimick the SS shackle, but it’s an interesting thought, I’ll play around with it!

I lengthened our lashing to keep the boom off the end of the bimini. Should have done this decades ago
