Crack in engine block?

Yesterday I was making headway replacing my motor mounts, one of which had a sheared stud. All was going well until...

While degreasing and preparing some touch up paint I noticed what appears to be a crack in the engine block, near the crank pulley. The engine has been running fine so I'm hoping this is just superficial, but of course, I'm preparing for the worst kind of news as well.

The photos are all I have right now, notice the area where the paint is no longer existent around the crack. That area has always been oily from the gasket above the crack, so I'm not sure if they are related, and of course that makes it hard to know for sure if anything is leaking out of the crack itself.

Thanks everyone

That looks more like a casting mark, Matt. If it were a crack you would know it. Get it cleaned up and send a new photo.

The good part about keeping the engine and surrounding area is you will see something early vs later.
