I concur with Thor’s post about BoatUS/Geico insurance. Our NS has been insured with them since we bought it in 1998. While they did require a survey initially, they have not asked for one since. Our premium at the last renewal was $567 USD.

The rates charged must have something to do with the area the boat is docked in. The insurance for my 1987 N30U was over a $1000. Although I had a survey none was asked for with Progressive. An insurance agent I was working with also quoted over $1000 but required a survey.

Turns out my good luck was bogus. The insurance agent just sent me a “corrected” statement and it is over $1100.

I knew it was too good to be true. Sorry to waste your time on this.

No, Brian - we are sorry for you. I have a feeling that I wasn’t the only one thinking “Naw … there has to be some mistake. The insurer will change that and it’ll cost a lot more.”

As you say, too good to be true.
