The 30 manual states that the wedges should be tight enough that light hammer blows are needed to seat them. On my boat, the aftermarket plastic wedges I purchased from an INA source, need to be shimmed with cut up milk jug plastic to meet that standard of tightness. Also,the wedges must be fully inserted to enable proper positIoning of the mast boot. I really doubt the mast has been damaged by what your boatyard did.
