Electric winch enclosure for the cabin roof

In the spring of 2022, I installed a Lewmar electric winch and this year I’d like enclose the winch motor in the cabin similar to the pictures taken from a friends boat. The bulge in the enclosure is close to the dimensions I need, but I need about 2” more depth and width.

Does anyone have advice on fiberglass fabricator who can make this part or better yet, if anyone has an enclosure that they no Longer need that they’d like to sell.

Jim,

As an alternative, you can do what the factory or some PO did on my 33.

Cut the flat panel that you now have so that the winch parts protrude and the panel fits properly around the opening in the headliner.
Fabricate a teak box that covers the opening. One side of the box is open and that side butts up to the aft bulkhead.
The box is screwed to the removable fiberglass panel, screw heads on the upper surface of the panel. The box is also fastened to blocks attached to the aft bulkhead.
The edges of the box abutting fiberglass are curved to fit.

I made a cover for my Lewmar winch, similar to what you are looking for. If you would like a fabricator to make one out of fiberglass I suggest the following procedure
1: Cut a hole in the existing cover big enough the fit around the winch
2: Make a stiff corrugated cardboard box mock up to fit around the winch motor with about a 1/4 inch clearance, and securely tape it the the cover
3: Give the cover and the attached box to a fabricator, telling him you want about 1/8" wall thickness. Also ask for a 1/2" radius on all the edges

I expect a car repair company could give you the name of a fiberglass fabricator

Attached are some photos of the cover modifications
