For those who missed the Save the Date announcement, let me repeat: the INA 2024 International Rendezvous is happening.
It will be in Toronto, Canada, at facilities of the Royal Canadian Yacht Club and Mimico Cruising Club, with activities July 26-28. There will be capacity for those arriving on their own boats to dock in the night before, and leave the morning after. We have tentative offering of docking in Whitby, for those in transit before and possibly after. Hotel recommendations will be provided as soon as we have them nailed down.
Details to follow as the schedule and arrangements firm up in December and the new year. Stay tuned to announcements here, on our Facebook Group, www.Nonsuch.org, and in the INA Updates.
P.S. Transit docking will be in the Lake Ontario Whitby, NOT the BC Whitby. Mark has been strangely silent ever since being volunteered to coordinate anyone sailing to Toronto via Vancouver.
Among the folks at LONA who’re making this happen are some history buffs. They asked me some very good questions that I have to blush and confess I don’t know the answers to. So, some questions for INA long-timers, Original Gangsta’s, and history buffs:
- When it was decided to have an international Rendezvous every two years?
- Who made the decision?
- Who drew up the original Class Racing Rules?
- What were the early variant rigs, like White Cat, and how were their differences handled in the early racing days?
I will buy a beer (or equivalent non-alcoholic beverage) in Toronto at the Rendezvous for the respondent here with the best answers to the most questions.
