Great ideas….

Yes. The prevailing winds usually want to push my bow to starboard just as my prop wash is pushing my stern to port. I keep wondering when I’m going to spin enough to hit that piling with my bow pulpit on the way out. A little extra help up front would be welcome.

Brian, as I remember jet thrusters are considerably more expensive. They also represent more holes from the outside to the inside. Tube thrusters are a hole from the outside to the outside.
I don’t remember exactly how I determined the WL on the inside. I might have measured from a level stick across the deck to the water and then inside minus the deck thickness or I might have measured along the surface of the hull from a pulpit mounting bolt. Either will get you close. When I thought I had the hole centres inside I drilled a small hole (1/8”ish) each side and verified on the outside before drilling the half inch hole. As it turns out no adjustment was necessary.

I had to have the mast out to do it. It’s coming up six years now and I’m going to pull the motor unit off this year and examine / renovate it. I’m hoping my young, small, and very flexible rigger can get in and remove it. Otherwise I’ll need to pull the mast. It is very tight in there.

So you are really sailing around in a boat-shaped torus then? Or you could call it The Black Hole where water gets transferred from one part of the universe to another…

I do see your point, though. Not only three more holes in the hull, but also in the floors that the piping needs to pass through. Those tend to be really small and I’m not sure how structural they are or if they just provide a flat surface for the sole, but I’d hate to find out the hard way.

I saw that you had the mast out in the photos. I don’t think I could get in there even with it out.

The duct tape may not hold more then a year or to. Might I suggest lag bolts instead??
