It occurred to me that each of us has (at least) one pearl of wisdom worth sharing with the group. I thought having one thread where we post these would be a good idea.
****** To the moderator, would it possible to pin this thread so it is easy to find. Also, how do we reply without getting repeats of early messages?
Since it was my idea I will start. When we bought Nonsuch the bow had a number of places where the gelcoat was chipped by a swinging anchor. In almost all cases the f/g laminate was exposed. I repaired the dings and installed a stainless bar for protection. Last summer we anchored perhaps 20 times and no further damage to the boat. Because of the shape it was more expensive than I thought it would be, but I guess it is only money. One final comment, I thought the contract included polishing, it didn’t, I had to polish myself.
I’m sure your intentions are good, but I think this of this idea as not so good.
Don’t get me wrong, but I’d like to share my “wisdom” when I feel like sharing, usually directly after someone kindly asked for it.
Advertising my “wisdom” for no purpose, or worse, for the purpose of someone demanding my help because I advertised I’m an expert, does sound very unattractive to me.
Let’s keep internet forums the way they are. If you need anything, ask for it politely and see what happens.
I would like to take a moment to bring up the section devoted to
Members’ Tips & Projects
Which is readily Accessible from the member side of the nonsuch.org website.
Another place to browse for ideas and projects is in the INA newsletter published three times per year with historical issues archived on the INA members side.
We encourage our members to submit their projects and achievements for publication in the newsletter and/or website.
Another good reason to join the INA if you haven’t yet done so!
