Looking for Radar mount for mast with SS straps

Everyone,

I need to purchase a new radar mounting platform for my Garmin 18" radar. My existing platform is held to the mast with two SS straps. However, the platform/mount has a crack in it. Can anyone recommend a current model of a radar platform/mount that can be strapped to the mast.

BUT

I would suggest welding the crack

If the plate is cracked you could weld a doubler over the entire plate.

OR

You might be able to weld a strip or two in appropriate places

The dome could be spaced with washers to clear any deviation from a flat top plate

You could even bolt some King Starboard plate on top of the aluminium plate

Hi Mike

Sorry for your troubles with the radar mount. If you have not already found a solution, I have a mount I took off my 36 that is yours for the cost of shipping (or for the cost of travel-I am in Newburyport MA, but will be on The Cape this weekend). The radius of the mount may need some working for your 30, hardwood radiused fillers should easily close any gap.

Everyone,

Doug at Klacko helped me identify that my existing radar mount was make by SeaView. Therefore, I was able to order a direct replacement from it from one of the marine retailers. Attached is a photo of the new installation include the hole I made for passing the radar cables into the mast.

Also, Lee Lane very generously gave me a used radar mount that was on a NS36. Please let me know if anyone is interested in it? If so, I can discuss arrangements for sending it to you.

You may want to consider doubling up on the “hose” clamps holding this to the mast. Just like on a through hull fittings, two is better than one.

Don,

Double clamps makes sense. I will have to add a set when I get a chance. Fortunately, the radar mount came with a tether made of SS cable. I was able to attach this tether to one of the eye pads used for the wishbone support cables.
