Nonsuch 30 Ultra drone footage

Hi all, just wanted to share this short footage of my Nonsuch 30 during a cold April sail through the Puget Sound.

Rough work, but somebody’s got to do it, huh?

That was beautiful, Matt!

Hi Matt,

That video looks great! I’m looking for ideas on hooking up inflatable dinghy on the stern. I’m trying to avoid the Weaver davits. Do you have any photos of your set-up?

Thanks,

Don

Hi Don, I don’t have any photos handy but will share some as soon as I can.

The boat came with a Dinghy-Tow system on the transom, which is actually pretty cool except I had no obvious way to get on and off the dinghy. It was impossible to deploy the ladder while secured to the dinghy-tow “arms”, so for this trip I ended up fastening some plywood planks to use the ladder as a “draw bridge” and it honestly worked really well. I plan to make up something a little more permanent and still allow access to the ladder steps in an emergency (we don’t really swim in the Puget Sound).

Hi Matt,
The photo and the “dinghy-tow” name is all I need. I can follow up online later. Thanks for the info.

Beautiful Matt!
And Don, Matt’s solution to one of the big drawbacks of the Dinghy Tow system (which I used to have) is brilliant. I could also see putting the platform on the tow bars rather than the ladder. I don’t see why it wouldn’t work. I ended up going with regular davits and have been happy with them.

Oops, I realize why you might not be able to put the platform on the bars… it could interfere with the ladder when the dinghy is in the stowed position.

Nice!
