Solar panels on a Nonsuch

Hi Bruce

I have a smaller Kyocera panel mounted on the companionway slider doghouse.

Has anyone tried the flexible panels? They would likely fit on top of
the dodger and bimini.
It might be worth considering.

We have a flexible solar panel mounted on the soft bimini top on PATIENCE. This keeps it out of the way and it gets plenty of sun. We have tried various methods of attaching it with mixed results. Self adhesive Velcro on the back of the panel cooked off in the sun. D rings sewn into the top to correspond to the holes on the panel distorted the top and tended to leak. A pocket with a window held the panel very well but also held moisture and rotted the sunbrella in one season. We now have small loops of sunbrella sewn into the seams at the forward and aft edges of the bimini, and lash the panel to these. Wind blows under the panel and keeps it dry. Top holds its shape and doesn’t leak. So far so good.
