Not sure how or why this thread has gotten so contentious but, in the interest of preserving the remarkable comity that has always prevailed on this forum, I, respectfully, suggest we call it a draw and retire the topic. FWIW, at my age (I’ll be 70 before we haul our boat out this year), neither a swim platform nor a cleverly rigged original stern ladder can really be considered proof against the obvious negative consequences of accidentally parting ways with our boat,
