My NS26c has developed a steady tapping noise when under sail power and the engine off. it only happens in forward and neutral. Would appreciate any comments.
Thanks

If it’s a fixed prop, I would think it would freewheel with the transmission in forward or neutral while under sail with the engine off. In forward, you would hear the transmission gears rotating. Reverse would lock the prop and prevent freewheel. What is the tapping sound source; the transmission or is it on the hull?

Try locking transmission on reverse while sailing. I have a folding prop that will spin and cause transmission noise unless I put in reverse while sailing.

Same here on mine. Actually, after I shut down the engine, putting it in reverse for a second and then going back to neutral stops it. I’ve a Gori 2 b lade.

thanks for the ideas. I will see if putting the transmission in reverse right after engine shutdown resolves the issue. i am running with the original 2 blade prop.
