Westerbeke 27 Circulating Pump

The circulating pump on my Westerbeke 27 is about to call it a day. Thirty years isn't a bad lifespan. This is not the seawater pump but the pump that circulates the antifreeze. I can only imagine what Westerbeke will charge for this so I thought that while there is some time before launch I better search out an alternative pump or at least where to get a Westerbeke one at a good price.

The engine is basically a tractor engine so I was wondering if anyone knew if the original manufacturer (Mitsubishi?) would sell a circulating pump that would match up.

I was also wondering if anyone had a circulating pump they would be willing to part with.

Get the Westerbeke part number and goggle it. If you can, get the Mitsubishi (engine model K4D) part number and do the same.

I got a new westerbeke one as a back up a few years ago for my 21 hp from keats.. Can’t remember the exact cost. I think it was in the 400 to 500$ range. Very expensive. Hope you can find cheaper out there.

A friend had the same issue with his Universal/Kuboto and it was half price from Kuboto vs Universal

Is there any chance that it could be rebuilt? Usually, it’s only the bearings or seals that go on them.

I’ve not heard of that type of pump being rebuilt in the past 30 years. Normally, they are not very expensive if you can get them for a Mitsubishi or Kabota diesel.
