Hi Becky,
At this stage of our planning process, we are open to hearing all ideas from members and potential sponsors.

If you have a particular opportunity in mind, please let us know. My experience from past events is that sometimes the most productive sponsorship leads come from relationships or introductions from participants.

More details will follow…

Hi Robert,
The Rendezvous Committee is working on the budget, and sponsorship plan. Some details will be available in June. I will share them with you in a preliminary form at that time.

If you have ideas that you believe would be helpful for our planning process please email me, and I will help you get connected to the right team member.

Thanks,

We appreciate the passion and engagement from members of the Nonsuch community regarding the 2026 rendezvous. We’d like to clarify a few key points in response to recent concerns:

The committee to plan the 2026 event was formed before the 2024 election, and the choice of Newport, Rhode Island was made based on its rich sailing heritage, its accessibility, and its longstanding appeal to sailors on both sides of the border. This was a sailing decision—not a political one.

Traditionally, INA rendezvous are held every two years, alternating between Canada and the United States. The 2024 gathering was held in Canada, making the U.S. the appropriate host for 2026 in keeping with this long-established rotation. This tradition reflects our commitment to balance and shared stewardship of the Nonsuch legacy.

We also want to acknowledge that many American members are deeply saddened by the current tension between our countries. This is not something we shrug off lightly. But it’s precisely in times like these that communities like ours must stay focused on what unites us—our shared love of sailing, our boats, and the friendships that have grown from this group.

Politics should have no place in this endeavor. If you feel you cannot support the event under the current circumstances, we respect your decision and will truly miss your presence. The committee will continue to plan for the 2026 Rendezvous in the spirit of tradition, unity, and the enduring bond of the Nonsuch fleet.

We hope you will reconsider and join us in Newport.

The 2026 Rendezvous Committee

Thanks for all your work, Pete.

Yea, what Joe said.

My suggestion to the committee is to make allowance for ‘last minute’ attendees. With the mercurial nature of the Trump administration, by August 2026 the situation may well be quite different and Canadians will be less reluctant to participate.
