Am I correct that all Google group site replies show here but discourse replies don’t show on GG?
Did I miss where this was mentioned on GG ? Now that many of us are using discourse it would be an issue.
Yeah. If the GG mirrored to here and the Discourse Group mirrored to the GG, you could get a loop going and fill everyone’s inbox in a jiffy. Might bring down the whole Internet, start WWIII, etc.
I think the hope was that mirroring GG to DG would aid in the transition. I’ve been trying to make useful replies (trying!) to these mirrored postings on the DG in the hope that it would help lure more people over. I think I remember something about the board giving the DG a year to fledge. After that they’d decide on one or the other. I have found that I do like the DG better, though I was a skeptic at first. So I hope it is the one chosen and I am trying to make sure it does. I get the impression that most of the holdouts on the GG are either too busy, too lazy or are simply no longer participating. Completely understandable. I don’t know how many are adamantly opposed to changing, but I suspect it is a very small number. I wish those who really care enough to become adamant about it would take the time to try out the DG, because it is the people who really care that we need here. And I think they’d find that they like it. Or at least that it does work for them the same as the GG (email posting and reading.)

I have no idea, though I’m interested, too. I’m just an overly vocal participant. You’d have to ask Jon about that. (jonlewit)
I might add that a mention from a respected Nonsucher like you on the GG might help encourage more people to try it. No offense to Jon, but if he’s the only one urging people to come over and try it out he kind of looks like a voice in the wilderness to them. If a bunch of us start touting it, maybe it will seem more legitimate to people who are ignorant or on the fence. A lot of older folks sail Nonsuches and not all of us are into modern technology. If they don’t spend a lot of their time online, they might not be aware that there are better things coming along all the time. There are probably lots of zombie members of the GG, but I bet a lot of the non-zombies would give the DG a try with the right kind of nudge.
