Joe, I see that you have only a 2:1 purchase on the mainsheet, is that enough of a mechanical advantage? Our 26 has a 3:1 with a fiddle block hanging down from the boom and I would sure like to get rid of that headknocker.

Joe,
Can you tell me about these two items? I too have that block on the starboard side of the boom. I see some folks run their topping lift through that block.

The cheek block is for the original topping lift routing. It went through there and then to a cleat forward on the wishbone. The upper one you pointed out is the existing topping lift that runs along the wishbone through various blocks and down to the deck where a turning block routes it aft to the cockpit.

I to am wondering. I received the #2 the other day and not only is it very big, but it is awfully stiff. I am wondering if will really absorb much shock. Our 26 has a 7/16" mainsheet, has anyone tried to us the #1 which is for 3/8" line? I am thinking of giving it a try. I think the #2 might be stiffer than my mainsheet line.

I just installed a #1 on our N26. I had to pull it through all the maisheet due to the thickness of the line near the eye. I was able to do that even with our 7/16 line. We have been out a couple of times since the installation and it works a described. When at our store I also thought the #2 would be excessive, I think I was right.
I tried this on Gimlet. It did serve to absorb boom shock, but the snubber is quite heavy. It caused the sheet to twist more and also seemed to make it snag in more places on the stern. Not sure what brand is was. I bought it at West Marine. When I removed it after 2 or 3 weeks of use my sheet was all black.
The bungy is much smaller and lighter. The package states that it will not discolor the line. I will try that next.
