Hi All, My companionway doors are falling apart. There are 2 boards with a louvre on top. Does anyone know a source that makes them. I know of Cruising Concepts but they are different.

John,
I had the same problem and am having the boards replaced this week. I am experimenting and having the new ones made of a high grade lexan type material similar to what is on the sliding hatch. It is allegedly stronger than the plywood and will let in more light. I will let you know how it turns out and send you pictures if you are interested.

I also had the same problem and ended up having new boards cut. I removed the louver and screen from the original top board and installed it on the new one after striping the frame and louvers and re varnishing. I use the old boards when the boat is in storage.

Thanks Phil what about the louvre? John
The shop says they can put one in. That is the part I am most nervous about. I’ll let you know!

I have played with these doors in several formats. I am now using lexan doors no frame. The are removable and fit in same track as boards. I put boards in (sometimes) during winter. I like the light that lexan gives cabin. Some pics here. http://public.fotki.com/JohnnyI/boat-stuff/phunsuch_companionw/
I had some made by these people, and am very pleased. They are made from HDPE, never stain 'em or worry about water.
