Converting Salon Dining Table to Pedestal

Hello All. Has anyone converted the fixed salon table to a pedestal. I would appreciate hearing your experience and knowing what brand and model of pedestal you installed, or have on your boat as original equipment.

Thanks, Bob McCarthy, S/V Shamrock Nonsuch 33, #40

We did this on our 30U by removing the top swing leaf, cutting the bottom leaf in half and hinging it back over away from the seat. The double berth still works but one now has room to get at the seat and storage above. We only once used that huge full table since you couldn’t get around easily and we much prefer eating in the cockpit.. The hinges can be found at Lee Valley, a bit of teak facing is needed for the raw edges and I recall slightly moving the feet. I did this so long ago at the admirals demand that I forget the details.

I don’t know if this works on a 33 but we’ve never looked back.

Does anybody know how to get rid that *&@# “ME” name. I’ve tried the edit without success!

Here are a couple of pix of the original table which came with my N33. It is approx 27”x40” and can be swiviled and lowered.

And when removed from the pedestal will fit into a slot between the two benches. Haven’t tried it yet but I think it could be dropped down lower to form the platform for another double bunk.

The “me” only shows up in your own view in Google Groups - I don’t see it on your posts, but I do see “me” on mine (I, me, mine).

Ed…
I own a nonsuch 33. Sometime ago another 33 owner contacted me about my three-way Plumbing connections. I didn’t have photos at the time but I took a few. If that was you that was wanting the the photos please contact me. Rich Coleman.
