I believe it’s 1” ID by something. This has been asked in the past and should be on the website. Also, I believe it’s in the owner’s manual.

Joe, and anyone else out there that knows,
I am replacing my cutlass bearing and stuffing box after I get hauled this fall. I have looked through the manual posted on the INA site. I have looked through my own copy. I have read through all of the documents concerning the 30, and the forums concerning the cutlass bearing. I cannot find any size information other than that it is a 1" diameter shaft. Is there a bearing length component that I am missing or are they all the same size?

I found it. It comes down to how yous spell it. Is it cutlAss, like the sword and the Chevy, or is it cutlEss?
Chuck,
This is the bearing my boat yard put on my 30U last winter.
CUT-Blackfish 1" x 1-1/4" x 4" Brass Bearing.
I hope this helps.

The information is distributed, you currently have to look in two places, and it’s implied rather than straightforward.
For all the boats for which we have shop drawings, you’ll find one that’s labelled with some name referring to the strut. That’s the outer diameter of your cutless or cutlass bearing.
The only place I know of in the manuals which explicitly references the shaft size is where the props are specified on a page usually labelled something to the effect of “Engine Specifications”. They’re all described as D x P x S, where D is the prop diameter, P is its pitch and S is the shaft diameter.
For example, the 29th page of the N26C manual has the Westerbeke 21 specs and says the fixed two-blade is a 15" x 12" x 1" right hand prop.
I can’t speak for certain, but I’m pretty confident that almost all the boats have 1.25" outer diameter / 1.0" inner diameter cutless bearings. Brian Cayer posted that this was what he used on his 30, and I know it’s what I used on my 26.
Do not rely on my say-so, though – check your boat manuals and/or take measurements when your boat’s out of the water.
As I understand it, the difference between the two spellings is that some manufacturer trademarked one spelling and that forced the other manufacturers to use the other.
