I have signed into Discourse but now realize that despite being fairly familiar with various chat groups I have no clue how to access it. I see that it has an App but how do I get it to appear on my laptop?

The web site is at nonsuch.discourse.group
Once you sign in, you remain signed in for a couple of months on that laptop, so you can return to the site without logging in again.
