The Sept/Oct 2003 edition of Good Old Boat contained an article on the Nonsuch 26. That article got me interested in the Nonsuch line of boats. In August 2004 I bought La Reina. Good Old Boat has a lot to answer for.

I see that Moustaches made the latest edition of Good Old Boat. How did you manage that?
Cheshire Cat , the beautiful blue hulled 36 in the article is part of the Northwest Nonsuch Niagara fleet.
Bob, don’t know if your question about the Nonsuch 36 and saying nothing was directed at me. I could not comment before because my GOB only arrived today.

My buddy, Peter Davidson, took a few swell shots of Moustaches on that lovely day. I cannot lie - I love that picture with the CN Tower and the city. I sent the pics in to GOB quite a while ago. I did NOT mention anything about the “special features” of my little pocket yacht, though. I do not know where the editor found out about all of that.
About a month ago, I got an email from the new editor of GOB (who, I think, has improved the mag). He told me that they were going to use a shot in conjunction with the whole Nonsuch and freestanding mast theme of this edition.
I look at the shot and I smile, especially since my mast isn’t stepped this summer (but it will be, next summer).
I also couldn’t get over Cheshire Cat - she is gorgeous.

All three of the Articles in this issue of GOB are really good. I learned a lot! Being a new sailor I hadn’t made the connection to the angled wishbone and the lack of a boom vang! I hadn’t realized just how big these boats are when looking at just the LWL and the displacement. I like the line in the article about the Nonsuch 36 compared to two others, “If the Nonsuch 36 had the same length overall/length waterline ratio as the Freedom at 1.24, it would be just shy of 42 feet long!”
The opening paragraph on the 36 is pure gold about being passed beating upwind by a “little old lady” in a full enclosure with a china teacup!

We have a problem with the article. On the first page they suggest that many refer to the 36 as the queen of the fleet. As you should all know there is only one Queen of the fleet and she is a 26.
