Gori prop

I have a new Gori folding prop. (16.5 x12 x3 RH) on my Nonsuch 30. At 2200rpm I get 6.5 kts (this is approx. 3/4 throttle). If I push the throttle up, I can only get max. rpm of 2700 and at that point it will emit black smoke.
I know that there are many reasons that can cause black smoke one of which is if the prop is too large. I would be interested to know if other Nonsuch 30 owners that have the same prop have a similar situation.

Narcy: It’s hard to compare since yours is a three blade and mine’s a two blade 16.5 X 12. However, from your description, it’s over propped.. When I installed a 16.5 X 13, I had the same smoke and RPM problem. The 16.5 X 12 works fine.

Narcy, as a reference, I have the 15x10x3 on my saildrive with a newish Beta 25. Purchased the boat 3 months ago.

Before servicing the prop my RPMs maxed at 2200 and speed at 6-6.5 knots.

Had the bottom done and prop serviced (cleaned, greased, zincs replaced) and now my top RPM is 2500 and 7 knots.

No black smoke, even at highest RPM.
