Chancy has a rudimentary storage space in the galley where we store the dishes. It has a couple of sliding doors which make access a little more difficult and I believe it should be possible to use more of the storage and make it more accessible.
I am looking for ideas, photos, suggestions for refitting this space. What does the space lookalike on a finely fitted yacht.
On another note, at 82 I entered my first keelboat race last weekend. I belong to the Rocky Point Sailing Association, they are mostly teach sailing in dinghies but they also have a couple of keel boats. This weekend they had their first keelboat race. 3 members have their own boats and I invited Mike Parfett (NS30C Halia) to join us, so we had a fleet of 6 boats.
Mike was across the line first and I was not far behind him. There was an array of spinnakers behind us and they stayed well behind us for the long down wind. At the end of an 8 mile run Chancy and Halia were still in the same position. I couldn’t overtake him and he couldn’t get away from me. Someone on the radio was heard to say “we will get them up wind”.
I make my first mistake when we rounded Croker Island". I expected a wind shadow and gave it more clearance, Mike just punched through and that was the race. He beat me by about 17 minutes (I made more than one mistake). Next time I will hold on to his coat tails and hope for an opening.
The rest of the fleet didn’t make an impression on us on the upwind. The third finisher was about 20 min. behind me on corrected time (the smallest boat in the fleet but well sailed).
You can just see the Nonsuch at the top of the drone photo. This is about half an hour after the start.
Congratulations Mike.
