Grew up with Mark, His brother Joseph ,and sister Abigail in Watertown NY as kids!
Family was wonderful to be around and never dreaming where our futures would take us!
Had occasion to contact him some years ago when I bought our Nonsuch30 in Chaumont NY
Appreciated his advice, Will be missed
Had the pleasure of interacting with Mark first for the Good Old Boat article on Nonsuch 36’s that I did some years back, and then during my tenure as INA Co-President. A wonderful guy who’ll be greatly missed.

Very sad news. I was fortunate enough to speak with Mark a few times last year. After leaving an initial message for him, he returned my call, provided excellent guidance, and was so warm, friendly, personable, and was so energetic and enthusiastic that he came across as someone in their 40’s, not someone who was almost 80… a truly exceptional person.
My sincerest condolences to his family and friends.

A note of remembrance for those who frequent the fleet islands in “1000 islands group”.
Dumfounder Is. was Mr. Ellis’s summer family retreat, across from Camelot docks in 1000 Islands National Park.
Mark grew up sailing this local area as a boy before he became famous.
A magical place we are lucky to be close to. We will respect a moment of silence as we pass each time from now on.
What a wonderful, irreplaceable dream he has gifted us.
Thank you,
