What is the recommended material/product to replace the rubber bumper on the inside of the boom that protects the mast when the boom is in motion?
And what is a good source to find it?
Thanks,
Ken

Hi Ken,
I believe the material is the same as the rubrail. I bought mine from Mike Quill, he’s a great source for many items related to Nonsuch boats. His email is: mquill@cogeco.ca

I used dock rub rail on my Nonsuch 22. I purchased it at our local chandler. I now have a Nonsuch 26 and I think it would also work for it. Mike Quill is a great source but $$$$. Getting the pop rivets can be a change. Mike sells the package bumper and rivets. The wishbone bumper is different than the rub rail.

Mike sells them…
But a tip I got from Bob Jenkins. Vim the household cleaner sold in Canada is an excellent product to clean rub rails, fenders and other vinyl. Not expensive and easy to use.
Not to my knowledge sold in the US
There are also some more standard materials :

The “C” style is flexible enough … come in straight lengths of … 8’
Another good cleaning item is Magic Eraser. Works great on fiberglass too.

Something that I learned from the diesel mechanic (!) that helped me commission Persistence 15 years or so ago is that vinyl stains succumb to liberal quantities of thinners – lacquer thinner – on a rag kept with a fresh wet surface. Cleans stained electrical cables too.
