MaxProp settings

Hello,
I have a 16" 3-blade,feathering MaxProp on my 1983, N30C w/ a
Westerbeke W33,shaft driven. Trans. is a Hurth,2:1.
PYI said to set the prop at 12 dig. which does not work. What do you
set your pitch at??

Thank you for your time,

What doesn't work about it? I have a Max-Prop on my 33 with a
Universal M-35 engine (30 hp). Same transmission. Pitch is set at
12.2 inches (about 22 degrees). If you set yours at 12 degrees, you
would have a problem. I suspect PYI is telling you "12 inches". Talk
to Fred Hutchinson at PYI. He will tell you what you need to know.
Good luck.

Addison,
I have a similar prop on my 30U which has a Yanmar 3GM30F engine and a 2.1
reduction gear. PYI recommended my prop be set to a blade angle of 20
degrees, which equates to a pitch of 11 inches. I found my boat performed
better with a blade angle of 22 degrees, which equates to a pitch of 12.2
inches. You may be confusing blade angle and pitch. Setting the blade angle
to 12 degrees would definitely result in a pitch way to low for your
