I saved this picture in August 2022, and I must have the original drawing somewhere because that’s my yardstick and tape measure in the photograph. However, I can’t recall now where the physical drawing is filed or how I came by it.
This one is from Nov, 2020, and I’ve got no recollection of the history. The file info where I found it attributes it to John Barbour (@JohnB), so he may know more.
This looks familiar but I didn’t have a copy. I needed to get the sliding hatch cover dimension (approximately) and I won’t be going to the boat until April.
Here is the data from which I made the righting moment graph. Chanterelle, the boat it was made for, was in the 2016 registry but no longer appears. I think the data came with Nature when I bought her.
Here is a cleaner scanned copy of Bob’s drawings. I have the original paper copy of the four page advertising brochure. Also attached is an interesting 26 assembly photo.
Ron, If you are not putting it back on, how do you keep water out of the boat? I haven’t had this part off for many years - maybe it’s time to revist the hatch leaks.
Yes Bob, the fiberglass box it slides into is what I needed.
And JohnnyGee, i’m not sure who needed a sawzall, there is plenty of room to get the engine out through the companionway hatch without cutting anything. My marina uses a forklift and it’s almost easy.
I’m building a hard dodger so the companionway is better protected than most. The sliding hatch will be replaced with a folding unit. The aft half will hinge over the forward half and then both pieces will be able to hinge up. I’ve mocked it up and in most cases just the aft half will need to be open for access. But, I’ve kept all the parts for the sliding assembly just in case.
