New guy here…. We bought Allegro about a month ago, 26U hull 214. We sail out of Pender Harbour in British Columbia. I’ll be racing the boat pretty much every weekend year around in our club with a very mixed fleet. Usually we have 10 to 16 boats on the line and it’s competitive but very polite. I had a 30C about 25 years ago and I’ve always said that I was too young to appreciate the boat back then. Now, I’m really enjoying the 26!

I’m a dedicated boat tinkerer and have had at least 25 different boats. Plans for the 26U are mostly club racing, usually short or single handed and as many of the local (BC) regattas than I can get to. Also, short local cruises. Allegro is on a weight loss program now and replacing clutches /new ropes. Considering going to a tiller.

Welcome, Ron! These Nonsuches are very good “old man boats”, but surprisingly perky. I think you’ll have a great time perfecting your boat for racing. I know nothing about racing, but you’ll probably get lots of help here from others who are more hard-core than I am.

Welcome also, Ron!

If you haven’t already seen it, you might want to take a look at all the material on the boats at the www.Nonsuch.org website, especially, the New Owners’ Quick Guide found among the original boat manuals.
