I have a contractor friend to help my replace my 26U’s aluminum water holding tank and wonder if the original hose fittings be used with new poly tanks and if any soldering will be needed?
We don’t know where your boat is or where the new tank came from. Note how we sign off our posts.

I plan to buy the tank offered on the NSA website once I’m sure that I’m capable of installing it.

Do you mean the INA website?? If so, the site describes what comes with the tank and the size of the fittings. It is always best to replace all hoses particularly pay attention to the vent hose which has a habit of getting plugged up.

Hi Bill, Welcome to the INA Discussion Group
I replaced the tank in my N26U last fall with one ordered from the INA. It was a very easy process. Remove the cross bracing under the settee. Loosen the filler hose, air hose, and feed to the boat water system. I reused the poly connectors from the existing ALU tank; they were the same size for the INA poly tank. I did replace the filler hose and air hose but this is optional. The most challenging step was to disconnect and reconnect the existing water pipes allowing for the removal and reuse of the connector feeding the system. Space is at a premium in that area and my pipes had 90º corners that needed to be loosened. I also recommend that you log into the Nonsuch website and have a look at the Members’ Tips and Project page > Manual Water Tank Gauge. This is a very useful idea, easy to accomplish and would have been even easier if I had done it prior to tank installation.

Yes, Joe, the INA website as a source for the poly tank, although it now calls itself NSA. Thanks for your advice. I looked at the drawing of the tank but didn’t see if the existing fitting could be transferred to the new tank. I be sure to clean the vent hose. Fortunately, my boat is near a good marine hardware store!

That’s great advice, Ted,
Just what I was wanting to know. Yes, I know about those 90 degree fittings near the water tank, very difficult to get around.
