StackPack?

How do you like your StackPack sail? Any recommendations?

I’m trying to decide whether to go that route vs. a new sail cover. The cover alone is about $850-900.

TIA

Definitely worth it.
Basically just drop the sail and zip it up.
Do you want my old sail cover (if I didn't throw it out)

Is your sail cover in good shape? It is easy to make a standard sail cover into a stack pack.

Oops! Sorry about the garden gate pic. My wife had me make a couple of pergole. The pictures are adjacent and my fingers are too big I guess.

Love to have more details around how this is done.

Here’s a captioned album of all the photos I took while making it. It’s a little short on detail but I’ll answer any questions you have.

Paul, I am now having zipper teeth trouble on my home made 20 yr old top zipper cover and increased difficulty with age of unzipping and rezipping. Your solution where the cover lies open and invites the descending sail is neat.

Thanks very much.

I had this made by Doyle Sails in NS. It cost $1300, just a tad more than a new sail cover :winking_face_with_tongue:.
Worth every cent of it.

Ed, it appears that you only have one full cradle line, (1st aft of mast).
How does that prevent the unsupported side folding under the sail as it drops?

There are cradle lines on each side, you can see better on this photo.

Thanks Ed, it’s very clear.

What happens to the StackPack when you are sailing? Does anyone have a picture?

The real packs that are made with the sail set differently of course but this is what my “DIY” pack looks like. I don’t think any of them are as nice looking as just the sail but the convenience IMHO massively outweighs that.
As for how I like it, I love it!

Thank you for the picture Paul.

Bought a Mack Pack when it came time to replace our sail cover. Best thing we ever did. Tie up the boat, zip the zipper. Sail is all put away.

We bought ours from Butch Miller as soon as I heard the zipper cover referred to a “The Marriage Saver”. He does great work and I highly recommend on of his covers.

I suppose that term would vary depending on whether you are no longer asking for help with the sail cover or if you are asking her to install 25’ of zippers .......

I bought mine from Butch Miller as well. I cannot think of anything that is more useful . He did a great job, it fits perfectly and I am very satisfied with the function . Understand is also adding a “cross over line” that reduces the stress on the zipper. Butch Garren came up with the idea and now I understand that Butch Miller is furnishing a set with a sail cover.

Ed, what is a cross over line and how is it deployed?
