Ed Cook's advice about pulling the track up with the halyard is terrific.
I just installed a strong track on my (relatively) tiny NS22 and "glide"
certainly doesn't describe the process! Removal of the pad eye at the
base of the mast was essential for my installation, in order to get the
most shallow angle possible. I followed the directions and fought with
the track for 1/2 day and reached about 2/3 the way up the mast before
calling it quits. Next day I looked around the boat yard for the biggest
guy I could find and got his help. Two hours (and only 20 bucks)later it
was installed. Yes, the base of the track attaches using the NS sail stop
bolt (or whatever its called).
What does really glide now is the sail, indeed she drops like a rock!
