Surveyor in the Hamilton, Ontario area

Good evening,

I need to have a survey done for my insurance renewal. There appear to be many surveyors online, and even one site that claims that most are not actually accredited. It certainly makes it seem daunting.

Does anyone know of a surveyor in the Hamilton, Ontario area? I bought the boat in Toronto but don’t want to use the same surveyor as he did not seem to know anything about sailboats, far less a Nonsuch, claiming that the mast bend, induced by the weight of the wishbone, was a major problem.

Any suggestions would be welcomed.

Best and thanks

Ask your insurance company for a list of their approved surveyors. You don’t want to get a survey done, then have insurance company reject it. There is also association of professional marine surveyors, although I don’t know what requirements are to be a member.

Hi Don -

You could try

or shoot Mike Quill an email and ask him. He ought to know a few good ones. I agree with Don Crossley - ask your insurer.

Ernie Abugov: I don’t think that your advice about shooting Mike Quill is part of any thing the INA suggests. It is not our goal to reduce the world population and does not meet our standards nor is it in any document of said organization.

That’s the problem with ageing, Joe … first, your hearing goes … and then you get SED (SELECTIVE EDITORIAL EYESIGHT).

Then … alas … everything else goes. To clarify, Mike Quill has NOTHING to fear from little old me.

The way I heard it is;
The second thing to go is your memory.
When asked what the first thing is you reply
I forgot.

I like the idea of not having to breach the hull with the bow and stern thruster. I just wish I could inherit one or perhaps buy one second hand.
