Woe is me as the thermostat housing on my Westerbeke 27A has developed a crack and my Nonsuch engine is currently unusable. Westerbeke is four or more weeks backordered on the part (Westerbeke part# 34416) and the usual distributor sources are out of stock as well. If anyone has any ideas for a good source of such things, suggestions are welcome, and of course if anyone here on the forum happens to have one available I would be very, very interested!
Thanks,
John

Thanks Ward. The current plan is that the yard (Brewer’s Greenport) where I keep the boat is going to attempt to have the weld done. I hope that’s successful but I would feel more comfortable if I had a replacement part in hand as well. I have a long planned trip from Long Island up to Martha’s Vineyard next week and so I want to be sure I have a reliable solution to the problem.

Try a tractor supply company. It is, after all, a converted tractor engine…

John;
The following website shows some Westerbeke to Mitsubishi model equivalences. (I was looking for my W13 engine)
https://www.det-mitsubishi.com/en/mitsubishi-diesel-engines/applications/westerbeke
If you can find yours, maybe you can find alternate sources, as others here have suggested. I have heard that some of the Westerbekes are also Perkin engines; but that may be me just spreading rumours around.
BTW - according to this site, my W13 is a K2C-61WM, which may be interesting for others here.

Hi John,
Try Southern Global Tractor supply.
http://southern-global.com/
Our 27A’s are a Mitsubishi KD3 tractor block (to the best of my recollection).
I ordered a freshwater circulation pump (coolant/antifreeze, not raw water) from them over the winter and it cost only $94 including the shipping vs the Westerbeke price of $450.
Their customer service is very good as well.
Probably better to install a new unit if you can find it.
Good Luck!

Thanks to all for the help. My yard was able to locate a new housing so I’m back in business now.
