I stumbled onto a simple way to add and remove the winter antifreeze for the engine when the boat is on the hard. I have a new cover for the Vetus freshwater filter (lost the O-ring, bought new O-ring and cover kit, found original O-ring). Drilled a hole in the old cover and siliconed in a garden hose fitting. To add the antifreeze to the freshawater system, close the seacock below the filter, change to the hose cover, run a 2m hose through the quarterberth hatch into a bucket with antifreeze in the cockpit then run the engine. In spring, use a bucket of fresh water. An added feature is to hang a bucket on the transom to catch the stuff coming out so the job takes one person about 20 minutes, including a 5 minute coffee break. Do remember to open the seacock after!
