Who is David Young and why is his name preceding most posts on Discourse Google mirror for Nonsuch posts?
Near as I can figure -
There is some programming in Discourse that kicks in when you say a user account “mirrors a mailing list” the way our Google Mirror does. That programming tries to untangle the stream of the conversation that makes up a post. It looks like it successfully pulls off the latest post (on top) but then at times something further down in the post screws things up. Background - Discourse creates “staged” usernames for the INA.Google users and attributes the post to them. Generally gets it right. David’s username (from a posting a couple of months ago) was in there as “_David_Young…etc.” and the leading underscore sorted his username to the top. When things got messed up, it ended up picking the first username. (my best guess at this point)
I have a hunch as to what is messing things up - but want to see if I can test it out.
Sorry about this. I corrected David’s staged username, but that might just mean the mistaken attribution will move to the next person. We will see.
