The cause of the quirk when some Google posts are mirrored on Discourse is due to the “From” address in the posts. Every post has to belong to someone. When Discourse can decipher an email address in the Google post, it will match it to a current user (if one exists or create a “staged” (fake) user based on the email address. So, it’s perfectly happy with a From of:
