30 Classic/westerbeke 27 propshaft

I am pretty sure my propshaft is warped. I would like to minimize out of the water time and have a new one fabricated ahead of time.

Has anyone replaced theirs and happen to have the length?

Thank you,

I had to shorten my boats shaft down ten years ago when I converted to Electric Propulsion. Mine was set up for a V drive transmission initially. It was shortened by about a foot in less than a minute using a grinder. You might try and make a ball park measurement and add a little for good measure. You can easily cut it down if needed.

Do a search of the list. There was a post on “30U Prop Shaft Length” back in 2011. The drawings would be a help because they specify the taper and key ways as well. Maybe George Hite still has them.

"Mike,

Bill sent the drawings for the shaft. The length is 52 3/4". What a tremendous resource. Thanks again for the lead.
