Airhead Composting Toilet

I will have an Airhead Toilet from my old boat. Has anyone installed an Airhead in a NS 26?

Tim is STL (where it has been 70 F all week, wishing that it were the same in Canada.)

That’s me! … and my airhead. I love it. I’ve run the exhaust hose a little better now, to a solar vent and it’s been working great! The install was super easy and it freed up all sorts of storage under the starboard quarter birth when I removed the holding tank.

We have a Airhead in a 30U. Things we have learned over the years:

  1. it is real high - short people will need a step stool to use to sit (but for a guy standing, it is idea).

  2. the seal on the liquid container for our vessel is not as good as it could be - we have learned to treat the liquids like voting in Chicago of old - empty it early and often.

  3. it is the liquids that smell, not the solids - empty early and often.

  4. taking out the old WC toilet, holding tank, pump, etc. resulted in a bag with 47 hose clamps - that is a lot of possible leaks.

  5. our unit gets in the way of opening the drawers in the head totally. We manage.

  6. the area where the holding tank previously was is good for a real lot of beer (but problem - the liquid tank is much smaller!)

  7. we too use a solar fan, installed on the Dorade box. Keep meaning to build a new large box so the fan does not overhang the sides.

  8. plan at some point to re-run the exhaust hose using solid PVC where possible to have better airflow. We pulled the supplied little fan out of the system so it did not slow down airflow.

I used the pump out line for the air vent and put a vetus vent on top of the old pump out hole, I didn’t even remove the pump out fixture.
