Ed,
Thanks for the info.
I’ve been trying to find replacement lights for the 120v electrical panel for a few weeks, with no results. I called Bass today and got everything I needed for much less than I had expected to pay. Very nice people to deal with.

The subject of replacement indicator lamps for the Bass electrical panel comes up every so often. Radio Shack in the US carries an LED lamp that is a perfect replacement for the 12v breaker panels indicators:
The Radio Shack part number for the red LED assembly is #276-270. It costs $1.99 and has a built-in resistor. The specs are 12VDC (14.0 max), 15mA, 33mcd, and fits 9/32" mounting hole.
I’ve been using these lamps for years, and besides the low cost, they are a lot cooler and use much less power than the original incandescents.
Green (276-271) and orange (276-272) are also available. To go to the Radio Shack web site, CLICK HERE.
I recently replaced all the indicator lights in my Bass panel. They no longer make the panel model that was installed in my 1989 33, #42, but they have an exact replacement for the indicator light with an LED lamp. Unfortunately the website was not much help but if you call or email they are very responsive. I got the lights in less than one week. sales@bassproducts.com or 860-585-7923. They are located in Bristol, CT.
Were the Bass replacement lamps incandescent or LEDs. Are they cheaper (with shipping) then the Radio Shack ones??

I bought a few replacement lamps from Bass approx. 3 years ago, and what they sent me was incandescent (which I haven’t even bothered to install). It seems that many people, including the guys at Bass at that time, refer to any small indicator lamp as an LED even though many of them are incandescent and use far more battery power. LED’s have a “directional” set of leads, where one is positive, and the other is negative. If you connect the leads wrong, an LED shouldn’t light up. If it does, the lamp is incandescent, and may appear to be an LED, but you won’t get the power savings.
I had seen earlier references on this list to the ones at Radio Shack, and the prices seemed too good to be true. And, for me at least, it is too good to be true. My panel uses 8mm LED’s and the ones at Radio Shack are 5mm, much smaller than the holes.
I bought a bunch of the Radio Shack “LED” lamps last winter to replace a bunch of blown bulbs in my panel. If you buy more then ten, I believe they are only $1.49 each. They were easy to install, but the leads are short and you may need to splice them in using the wires from the lamps you take out.
I put quote marks around LED above because I do not recall having to worry about positive and negative leads. I just crimped them in and they worked. Kind of doubt I got lucky on about 9 lamps.
Ignoring the LED or not question, if I was doing it again, I would buy some green and orange as well and install them so that by looking at night while on the anchor, I would be able to tell if there are circuits on that do not need to be on, or maybe have all the running lights one color so you if you see the right number of green lamps, for example, you know you are good to go.
Did they have the same body diameter as the lamps you replaced (and the same as the holes in the panel)? Or, were they quite a bit more slim than the originals?
Whatever. Bass just sent me exact LED replacements and I was very happy that I didn’t have to do any jury rigging. I simply swapped out the old for the new.
I second those who recommend radio shack led lights to replace Bass panel lights. I took the list’s advise a few years ago and replaced with the Radio Shack LEDS. They work fine. I can’t remember but I think the list is correct the lead are shorter and one has to add a little wire.
