Bowsprit for a 22

I would like to add a bowsprit to my 22, cut a hawse and use the storage area just forward of the mast locker. Does anybody have any suggestions or comments about this? Where can I get a bowsprit?
Thanks, Chris

Hi Chris,

Do you want a full bow sprit/anchor platform, or just an anchor roller?

I plan on adding an anchor roller to our 22 and was measuring for it on Friday. Have to take into account how much overhang you need for the tip of the anchor to clear the roller, both in the fully aboard position and when hanging from the rode.

I have talked to Stainless Outfitters in the past and may be able to take a stock anchor roller with slight modification.

Not sure where you are located, but Stainless Outfitters or Klacko could build a full platform for you.

Hi Bill,

Thanks for the response. I would need the full platform, so will contact Stainless Outfitters or Klacko as you suggested. No. 49 (“Colorado Cat”) is on Lake Powell.

The INA puts in a bulk order each year deliver late winter early spring… you may want to partake in that option
for platforms or ladders. Ron Schryver took the initiative and began the program a number of years ago. Many owners have take part over the years.

Thank you, Thor. That would be a good way to go for the proper fit and probably the best pricing. I will watch for it.

Also Garhauer in California will make anything you want in Stainless for very reasonable prices.

Thor,

Are you referring to swim platforms for the stern? Chris is looking for an bowsprit/anchor platform. Does Ron order those as well?

Bill

Yes, a bowsprit not a swim platform. Hopefully one in teak if anybody knows a source–some success on the internet but thought that there might be better sources for our specific vessel. Thanks.

I too am looking for a bow sprit for a 1984 Nonsuch 22 so if there is a chance for a combined order let me know. I am looking for one similar to the one on Sweetie Pie shown on Wikipedia (see attached picture).
