My NS26 had one of those “paperclip” bowsprit/anchor rollers at some point in the past, but it’s gone now. The mounting bolts are still in the hull and stem, though.
I’m currently using a 25 lb Manson Supreme as my primary anchor, and it’s a bear to get back up onto the deck—especially when it comes up covered in mud. I really need a better system.
Last I checked, the bowsprit/anchor roller from Doug Gierula was around $2,500, plus shipping and whatever tariff BS gets added on. I’m just not sure I want to spend that much right now.
One option I’m considering is mounting a generic stainless anchor roller between the aluminum Samson post and the fairlead. Space would be pretty tight, but something like this:
My concern is that the roller really can’t project very far beyond the bow without some support from below. Otherwise, it becomes a pretty good lever acting on the deck. But if I keep it short enough to limit that leverage, I’m worried the anchor/roller will interfere with the mooring pennant.
Has anyone come up with a better solution on an NS26? Maybe a simple roller with a lower brace to the stem, or some other arrangement I’m overlooking?
Have you contacted Klacko in Canada? They might have something that was made for a 26. The bow extension that was a stock item on my 30 ultra was designed and has performed flawlessly .

I did, that’s the $2500 number, plus shipping and tariffs.
I may eventually opt for this if I don’t come up with anything else.
I’m considering taking my factory roller assembly off. It’s heavy and doesn’t make my boat faster… lol. I rarely anchor anyway. So, it could be available.
