Additional thanks to Courtney Miller as the host of the Outrigger Restaurant. Courtney provided a wonderful breakfast spread & yummy Dutch Lunch Menu. Along with her staff , they offered a warm and welcome feeling.
The class was held on the second floor of the restaurant overlooking the beautiful Housatonic River. Fellow Nonsuch owners came from as far west as Manhattan ,as far east as Newport and far north of Lake Ontario !
The basic concept of the event was to help attendees develop a sense of a trouble shooting thought process and learn more about diesels.. The working example of an “ my engine isn’t working” was broken down into two basic concept question. “ What has changed with the engine since the last time it was running properly?’ & “Rather than looking for answers, develop questions that lead to review of the various systems aboard.” A variety of subjects were covered and many questions asked & answered.
The event was recorded by fellow Nonsuch Capt, Rob Cohen / Soave and is now being edited by Rob for possible posting. Stay tuned for more. Regards, Gary/Aloki/ Oyster Bay NY
Ps - thinking about a Spring 2025 event ( location unknown yet) regarding “electric” aboard. Meaning, current technology of batteries, converting to electric drive vs diesel, solar and wind power options. Focus might be dollar/labor value vs final product or how much money and effort must I spend to achieve the goal. Also, what advantage have I obtained in the process. - - Pls share your interest level and preferred waterside location. (I’d like to have these events in various areas to service a large Nonsuch population.)
