Hi Every One…PHRF ratings work well when like type boats race against one and other…but the minute this doesn’t happen the system becomes flawed…I have a lot of experience racing other types of boats…take for example the Pearson 30…well if you change the rudder as we did to an Evelyn 32, type… that fit with no adjustments…the boat turned into a rocket it it’s class…but the PHRF group..(God bless them) . penalized us 6 seconds a mile…Thanks …because we easily over came that, and the trophies …well needles to say piled up…In Eastern Long Island Sound the 30 rates 183, but who cares because we race all size Nonsuches as a class under PHRF…We recently had the 33 rating changed based on performance to insure the ratings between all sizes of Nonsuches was fair..
