My rudder post steering cup is about rusted through. Any solution or replacement?

You may want to Google “Grease cups”. Why something filled with grease and made of brass would rust is puzzling.

Just re-did mine. It wasn’t brass and was quite pitted but salvageable. The fibreglass tube was stripped though so I had to fit a “bushing”

I replaced mine with a zirk and a hose to the upper lazerette ledge
Apologies for the very delayed input…
I too replaced the grease cup with a Zerk fitting many years ago. Makes greasing the rudder post so much easier, and you are sure that grease is actually entering/filling the space around the post as it will ooze out the top when full. I also make sure I turn the post back and forth to the stops several times while doing this to make sure the grease is spread as evenly as possible.
The Nappa Auto Parts Zerk fitting used fit perfectly into the threads where the grease cup was. Here is a photo for the part # -

Caution, it is easy to damage the threads in the bushing when removing the grease gun. Consider running a hose to a convenient place where it can be anchored and there is no chance of damaging the thread.
Also, you can apply a lot more pressure with a grease gun than the cap. The grease gun works well but I pump the grease very gently (slowly, feel the grease go into the bushing).
